Crank Dat Reaches Top! - 9.07.2007

Popular song Crank Dat by Soulja Boy finally reaches the top spot on Billboard's Hot 100. Right behind it is Kanye West's single Stronger, which samples Daft Punk's Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger song. Soulja boy's song has started a new dance craze out of the Atlanta snap music movement, originating in Bankhead. Alot of terms in Crank Dat that come from PLP's song, Crank Dat Roosevelt, which was released over a year ago.

Soulja Boy just shot into the 14th position on the Billboard Hot 100 with his single Crank That, Produced by Mr. Collipark. Soulja Boy has been a big artist in Atlanta's Snap Movement for quite some time now with singles such as, I Got Me Some BAPES (a song about the popular japanese bathing ape shoes) and Stop Then Snap. We at Lyrics Freedom expect to see a lot come out of Soulja Boy in the near future.

Dr. Dre Reveals More Information on Detox Album - 08.01.2007

In a recent radio interview, Dr. Dre revealed new information about the highly anticipated Detox album slated to be released this year. According the MP3.com, the album will contain performances from Snoop Dogg, Jay-Z, and Busta Rhymes. Fans of the genre has high expectations for Detox, being the first Dr. Dre album out since 1999. Mistah FAB Inks Deal With Atlantic - 11.19.2006

Mistah FAB

announced back in September that he after a 7 month bidding war he signed a deal with Atlantic Records. He is working hard to release his album, The Yellow Bus Rydah, in May of 2007 through the late Mac Dre's label Thizz Entertainment. Mistah FAB is a rapper from the bay who is a part of the growing Hyphy Movement. He has been a huge part of the underground rap scene of the bay area and we expect to see alot out of him in the months coming.

iPod Playback Restrictions Cracked - 10.24.2006

DVD Jon, the man known for cracking the copyright restrictions on DVD's is down to business again. This time his target is the popular music player, the iPod. According to his representative, Jon Lech Johansen has cracked the restrictions in place on iPods and the iTunes software and he is ready to put his code on the market. Given Apple's assertive legal behavior in the past, this should make for an interesting confrontation.

Lil Wayne May Face Carges for Throwing Money - 10.23.2006

Rapper, Lil Wayne, was preforming at Morgan State University in Baltimore where someone threw money into the crowd during the show causing everyone to run out in panic, injuring three women. Police are unsure at this point on whether to press charges on the rapper. A similar incident occured with T.I. in May which lead to his best friend being shot.

The Microsoft Zune release date has been announced. According to About.com the Zune, slated to be the iPod's greatest competition, will be released in only a few weeks at a price point of $249.99. Given the features of the Zune (including Wi-Fi), the product should convert at least a few iPod owners. Either way, the competition is good for everyone.

Fabulous In Stable Condition - 10.19.2006

Good news for the fans of Fabulous: he's in stable condition. After being shot in the leg and subsequently arrested for firearm possession earlier this week, medical reports state their will be no lasting damage. Fabulous is currently out on bail.
